Airbus is expanding its industrial presence in Tianjin, China, with the recent delivery of the first aircraft from its new assembly line. This milestone demonstrates the company's commitment to deepening local manufacturing capabilities and fostering China's role in high-end aerospace production.
The Tianjin plant, notably Airbus's first final assembly facility outside Europe, is strategically supporting the nation's aerospace ambitions. Collaborating with over 23 local and international suppliers, Airbus has created a robust industrial ecosystem that spans the entire aircraft lifecycle, including design, production, logistics, and recycling.
According to Zheng Jian, director of the Aviation Industry Development Bureau of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, this ecosystem involves more than 100 companies supporting the Airbus project. The plant has become a hub that not only enhances local manufacturing but also contributes to industry clustering in Tianjin.
This expansion aligns with China's broader goal to upgrade its aerospace manufacturing industry by integrating innovative technologies and logistical efficiencies. Airbus emphasizes ongoing collaboration to develop new aircraft features and technologies that can be deployed on future models, strengthening China’s position in the global aerospace industry.
The achievement signifies a step forward in China’s aviation sector, fostering local industry capabilities and international cooperation in the high-end aircraft segment. As Airbus continues to develop its Tianjin operations, it underscores China's rising influence in global aerospace manufacturing.
