The aviation leasing sector continues to display resilience amid signs of a robust recovery, despite enduring supply chain challenges. ACC Aviation reports that shortages of aircraft and engines have resulted in older jets remaining operational longer, which in turn has increased lease rates for mid-life aircraft. The market remains cautious, with providers emphasizing diversification across regions and aircraft types to mitigate geopolitical and trade-related risks.
Major maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) providers are under pressure, with lead times for engine and aircraft component overhauls extending to six months or more. Industry analysts expect a normalization of these delays by 2027. The overall outlook remains positive, with steady demand forecasted for the remainder of the decade. Experts highlight the sector’s underlying fundamentals, including the continuous need for reliable aircraft and flexible leasing strategies, as signs of a resilient industry trend emerge despite current operational challenges.
Industry Adaptability and Future Outlook
According to Nimalan Vikneswaran, Regional Vice President of ACC Aviation, operators are adapting by extending aircraft useful lives and rebalancing portfolios toward proven, mature aircraft types. While tariffs and trade tensions have impacted costs marginally, the aviation ecosystem's strength allows it to withstand shocks. Although supply chain issues persist, the sector's capacity for flexibility and innovation remains a critical asset for future stability.
