Airlink, a South African regional airline, has acquired two Embraer E-190 aircraft from lessor TrueNoord. The aircraft, delivered in December 2025, are intended for salvage of components and engines to help mitigate ongoing global supply chain disruptions affecting aircraft parts and fleet maintenance.

According to airline officials, the move aims to ensure the continued reliability of Airlink's Embraer fleet, which has been in operation since 2001 and currently comprises 65 aircraft of various models from the ERJ family to E-Jets.

Strategic Fleet Management

Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht emphasized that the additional engines and components would allow the airline to maintain high service standards despite the supply challenges. The purchased aircraft had previously been leased by Breeze Airways, a U.S.-based carrier.

The airline is also evaluating the possibility of returning the aircraft to active service in the future, depending on the status of their components and spare parts inventory.
