AJW Group has secured a long-term Power-by-the-Hour (PBH) support contract with Air Astana and FlyArystan, covering their expanding Airbus A320-family fleet. The agreement, effective from January 1, 2026, supports an initial fleet of 56 Airbus aircraft, including A320 and A321 Classic (ceo) models, as well as the newer A320 and A321 variants such as NEO, NX, and NXLR, all powered by GTF engines.
This partnership highlights Air Astana’s ongoing fleet modernization and growth strategy, particularly the anticipated expansion of its neo aircraft fleet in the coming years. AJW Group's support aims to provide reliable component and maintenance services as the airline scales up its operations.
Background and Partnership
AJW Group has a longstanding relationship with Air Astana, supporting the airline since 2006 initially with Boeing 757s, and later with Airbus A320 ceo aircraft from 2011 until 2019. Currently, AJW supplies PBH support for Air Astana’s Boeing 767 fleet, with this new contract marking its return to supporting the airline’s Airbus narrowbody fleet during a period of significant expansion.
Christopher Whiteside, Chairman of AJW Group, stated: “We are delighted to support Air Astana’s growing Airbus fleet again. Our long-term partnership reflects mutual trust, and we look forward to supporting their future fleet increases with cost-effective operational support.”
Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana, added: “Extending our relationship with AJW provides us with the confidence needed to expand our narrowbody operations, especially as we incorporate next-generation aircraft and increase fleet size.”
The contract is anchored by AJW Technique, AJW's in-house MRO component repair facility in Montreal, and a new EU-based warehouse in Amsterdam, designed to enhance material availability and reduce turnaround times, thereby supporting Air Astana’s European routes.
