Alaska Airlines has announced a significant aircraft order from Boeing, including 105 B737-10s and five B787-10s. The new narrowbody aircraft will primarily serve to replace older models and support the airline’s growth in its domestic fleet, while the widebody aircraft are intended to expand long-haul services to destinations across Asia and Europe.
The B737-10s are scheduled for delivery between 2032 and 2035, with some options for additional aircraft that can be converted to other MAX variants. This move marks Alaska Airlines’ first direct significant order of widebody aircraft, as they currently operate a small fleet of B787-9s inherited from Hawaiian Airlines, which recently merged with Alaska. The five B787-10s will be delivered between 2031 and 2032 and will enhance the airline's international route options.
The airline's fleet expansion strategy reflects its goal of modernizing its fleet with the latest Boeing models, enabling both operational efficiency and increased route diversity. Based at Seattle Tacoma International Airport, Alaska Airlines serves 144 destinations across 435 routes daily, with over 1,000 flights per day. The new aircraft will help the airline strengthen its competitive position in both regional and international markets.
