Alaska Airlines is preparing for the certification and launch of the Boeing B737-10, with approval expected by the end of September 2026. The airline plans to introduce passenger services for the new aircraft model in April or mid-May 2027, pending its own certification process. Based at Seattle Tacoma International Airport, Alaska Airlines has secured an order for 163 B737-10 aircraft, with initial deliveries scheduled for 2027 and additional units in 2028. The airline currently operates twenty B737-9s and has ongoing orders for other Boeing models.

Boeing has confirmed that certification for the B737-10 is imminent, with all flight testing completed and only documentation pending FAA approval. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has recently conducted flights and provided positive feedback on the aircraft. Kelly Ortberg, Boeing's CEO, indicated that the aircraft's certification process is in the final stages, with only a few deliverables remaining.

This new aircraft is expected to support Alaska Airlines' fleet modernization and facilitate operational growth through new routes and increased capacity. The expansion aligns with the airline's strategic plans to strengthen its network domestically and internationally, leveraging Boeing's latest aircraft technology.
