Alaska Airlines has introduced a program allowing its loyalty members to earn additional status points by supporting sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability in the aviation industry and offers members the chance to contribute up to the end of December by making donations via their online platform.
Participants can earn 500 points per $100 donated, with a cap of 5,000 points, which will count towards their travel status and milestones. Alaska Airlines, in partnership with Chooose, became the first U.S. airline to enable such contributions directly at the time of booking. SAF, which reduces life-cycle carbon emissions by as much as 80%, is central to Alaska Airlines’ goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Since launching the program, over 80,000 guests have contributed to scaling SAF, supporting the airline’s broader sustainability efforts known as the EverGreen journey.
The airline encourages travelers to visit its website and Hawaiian Airlines' site for additional information about these initiatives and their environmental impact.
