Alaska Airlines is set to introduce a new Business Class experience on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, starting April 28, 2026. The new cabin features fully lie-flat seats equipped with privacy doors and direct aisle access, designed to serve the airline’s expanding international route network. The initial rollout will include the launch of a long-haul service between Seattle and Rome, followed by routes to Seoul-Incheon and Tokyo.
The upgraded aircraft will include 18-inch HD screens and modern charging options for passengers. In addition to the Business Class overhaul, the airline is enhancing its International Premium Class with increased legroom and 12-inch monitors, along with complimentary beverages and amenity kits. Economy Class will also benefit from provisions such as free meals, blankets, and pillows to improve comfort on long flights.
The new seating configuration in Business Class adopts a 1-2-1 layout to maximize privacy and direct aisle access. Alaska Airlines plans to retrofit its existing fleet progressively, integrating these features to support its strategic transition from a predominantly regional carrier to a global competitor. The focus on routes to critical economic and tourism hubs underscores its effort to compete with major US and international airlines, leveraging the range and capacity of the Boeing 787-9 to serve its international ambitions.
