American Airlines has established itself as the top U.S. carrier in the 2025 AirHelp global airline rankings, climbing to the 11th position worldwide. This recognition reflects the airline’s robust performance in passenger rights and claims processing, which remains a key differentiator amidst the competitive landscape of the aviation industry.
The latest rankings, based on factors including punctuality, customer satisfaction, and claims efficiency, reveal a dominance of Middle Eastern and European airlines. Qatar Airways led the global rankings with a score of 8.16, with Etihad Airways and Virgin Atlantic following in second and third places respectively.
Within the United States, American Airlines scored an overall 7.64, surpassing other major carriers such as United Airlines (7.54) and Delta Air Lines (7.46). Despite advancements in operational punctuality by its domestic rivals, American’s strength in processing compensation claims maintained its lead nationally.
Several U.S. airlines performed less favorably on the global stage, including Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue, ranking from 36th to 89th. The report underscores the importance of customer service excellence and operational efficiency in global airline competitiveness, with American Airlines exemplifying success in these categories.
