ANA has concluded its Star Wars-themed livery program with the retirement of its Boeing 777 aircraft featuring the iconic C-3PO design. The aircraft, registered as JA743A, operated its final flight in January 2026, signaling the end of a ten-year collaboration that began with the aircraft's introduction in 2017. This liveried aircraft, which flew on routes such as Fukuoka to Tokyo Haneda, became a symbol of ANA’s innovative approach to passenger experience.
Earlier iterations of the franchise-themed liveries included the R2-D2 scheme, applied to a Boeing 787 Dreamliner registered as JA873A, which was also retired last year. Other aircraft with similar motifs, like the BB-8 design, contributed to ANA's unique fleet decoration strategy—aimed at blending entertainment with aviation. These special liveries captured the imagination of travelers and strengthened the airline's brand ties to the popular franchise.
With the expiration of the partnership between ANA and Disney, the airline has shifted focus away from these themed liveries. However, it emphasized that the memories and positive experiences generated during this period will endure with passengers worldwide. ANA expressed gratitude for the support and the role these special liveries played in enhancing passenger journeys over the past decade.
