Market conditions for the maintenance and overhaul of existing aircraft fleets remain stable, despite regional tensions and rising fuel prices. FTAI Aviation reported servicing 270 CFM56 modules in the first quarter of 2026, nearly twice the volume from the previous year, reflecting sustained demand for current-generation aircraft.

The company's new facilities in Lisbon and Rome are ramping up, while established locations in Miami and Montreal continue servicing large volumes. CEO Joseph Adams highlighted that airlines prefer to operate current-generation aircraft longer, with new orders locked in for the next four to five years, and noted that higher fuel prices could actually boost demand for economical overhaul services.

Furthermore, industry data indicates that approximately 12% of the $25 billion per year market for CFM56 and IAE V2500 maintenance is currently served by FTAI, which aims to expand its market share to 25%. As airlines focus on cost-effective solutions amidst geopolitical and economic uncertainties, companies supporting existing fleets are positioned for growth.

Experts emphasize that current aircraft types will remain prevalent for many years, making ongoing maintenance and overhaul critical. The outlook suggests resilience in the market for current-generation aircraft components, driven by the airline industry's focus on cost efficiency and fleet longevity.

“When an airline faces multimillion-dollar engine shop visits, a faster, lower-cost engine exchange becomes an attractive alternative,”

said Adams, underscoring the ongoing importance of economical overhaul services in supporting airline operations.

Overall, the market for aircraft maintenance services remains robust, with a focus on supporting fleet longevity amid external pressures.
