Fraport TAV Antalya Airport (AYT) has been designated as the host for Routes Europe 2027, scheduled to take place from 20-22 April. The airport’s management emphasized the strategic importance of this event, which attracts senior aviation and tourism industry representatives from across Europe. The gathering aims to bolster network development discussions and promote regional connectivity.
Antalya, situated on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, has become a leading leisure destination, with a record 39.2 million passengers served in 2025. This growth was facilitated by an €865 million expansion completed earlier that year, which more than doubled the capacity of the airport’s terminal and airside facilities, raising its passenger capacity to 65 million annually. These developments underscore Antalya’s expanding role in international tourism and air travel.
Regional Growth and Route Expansion
The airport’s route network continues to grow, with new services launched to Memmingen, Podgorica, and Aleppo, supported by airlines such as SunExpress. While Germany remains Antalya’s largest source market, the airport is actively working to strengthen its presence across Europe and improve connections to CIS countries. Notably, Uzbekistan Airways plans non-stop flights to Samarkand, while other carriers are preparing to serve Tashkent, further diversifying air links to the region.
"Hosting Routes Europe energizes the airport’s development strategy and showcases Antalya’s attractiveness as a tourism and business hub," said Rustamjon Akhmadzoda, AYT’s Aviation Marketing Manager. "We are committed to facilitating growth and creating valuable opportunities for delegates and stakeholders alike."
The upcoming event promises to highlight Antalya’s natural and cultural attractions through excursions and networking opportunities, encouraging future investment and sustained growth in the region’s aviation sector. By fostering these connections, Antalya aims to position itself as a key European travel hub for years to come.
