Archer Aviation has partnered with multiple cities across the United States to submit applications under the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), aimed at advancing electric air taxi operations. The initiative, established through Presidential executive order, seeks to facilitate the transition from development to commercial deployment of urban air mobility vehicles.

The applications involve public-private collaborations with cities in California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and New York. Notably, Archer’s application in Huntington Beach, California holds exclusive status, positioning the company as the sole air taxi operator involved in that project.

The program, overseen by the DOT and FAA, unites industry stakeholders, regulators, and local governments to set foundational operations for early eVTOL services. The FAA is expected to review applications and announce selections by mid-2026, with initial activities starting later that year.

This effort complements the National AAM Strategy, which provides a roadmap for integrating eVTOL aircraft into the U.S. airspace, emphasizing certification, infrastructure development, and regulations. The strategy includes 40 recommendations to support broader adoption and domestic industry growth.

Huntington Beach’s selection highlights Archer’s strategic positioning, especially as the designated official air taxi partner for the 2028 Olympic Games. Mayor Casey McKeon expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing community opportunities and innovation.

Adam Goldstein, Archer’s CEO, highlighted that recent federal collaborations have established a clear path for industry growth, with focus now on deploying aircraft domestically. The company has engaged extensively with federal agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, contributing to regulations supporting urban air mobility development. These initiatives position Archer as a significant player in advancing U.S. air mobility infrastructure.
