Aviation investment firm Arena Aviation Capital has completed the acquisition of a portfolio of ten Airbus A321-200 aircraft operated by Vietnam Airlines. This deal represents Arena’s largest single transaction since its foundation in 2013 and underscores its growing presence in the regional aircraft market.
The aircraft were purchased from Vietnam Aircraft Leasing Joint Stock Company (VALC). Arena’s leadership highlighted that overcoming the logistical and cultural challenges involved was a significant achievement, aided by local legal and operational support. Patrick den Elzen, CEO, and CCO Erik Dahmen credited their team’s expertise for this success, emphasizing the importance of local market knowledge.
This transaction builds on Arena’s recent 2025 activities, including acquiring ten Embraer E190-100 LR aircraft for a US-based investor and a diversified portfolio of Airbus A320-200s and Boeing 737NGs leased to prominent airlines such as easyJet, Air France, Avianca, and Norwegian, from AerCap. These acquisitions demonstrate Arena’s strategic focus on assets with strong airline credits and lease profiles, broadening its portfolio and market reach.
The firm’s continued expansion highlights its capability to execute complex multi-aircraft deals across the commercial aviation sector, reinforcing its position as a leading asset manager for institutional investors.
