ATR is planning to enhance its main landing gear maintenance as part of its ongoing in-service improvement program launched in 2025. This initiative seeks to address longstanding operational challenges faced by operators, primarily focusing on reducing maintenance costs and improving fleet reliability.

According to ATR CEO Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, the program aims to extend intervals between overhauls—potentially increasing the period from two to three years—while also mitigating corrosion issues. The company has already collaborated with Safran on nose gear maintenance and intends to apply similar improvements to the main landing gear.

The results of this program are expected to be seen by 2028, offering significant benefits to airline operators by increasing aircraft availability and operational efficiency. ATR emphasizes that these advancements are crucial to maintaining competitive advantage and supporting fleet modernization efforts in the regional aircraft market.
