Aerospace startup Aura Aero has announced details of its upcoming hybrid-electric regional aircraft, the ERA, which is scheduled to enter service in 2030. The company showcased multiple cabin configurations, including a high-density 16- to 19-passenger layout and an 8- to 9-passenger lounge or business setup, emphasizing the aircraft's reconfigurable cabin design.
During a presentation at Aero Friedrichshafen, Aura Aero revealed that the ERA will feature an advanced, intuitive glass cockpit with three large displays and automated mission management systems. This progressive design aims to modernize regional air travel with flexible passenger accommodations.
Founded in 2018, Aura Aero has already delivered three units of its Integral R trainer aircraft powered by a 210-hp Lycoming piston engine and plans to deliver 12 more units this year. The company also expects certification for its Integral S trainer equipped with a 180-hp Lycoming engine later this summer, and it is developing an all-electric model, the Integral E, scheduled to follow in 2027.
The company is also progressing with its Enbata drone, a medium-altitude, long-endurance military UAV, which aims to fly for the first time this year and enter service by 2028. Aura Aero has raised significant funding—€340 million—supporting its expansion, including new manufacturing facilities in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Toulouse, France.
With 20 firm orders and 700 letters of intent for the ERA, Aura Aero counts French regional carrier Pan Européenne Air Service as its first customer. CEO Jeremy Caussade emphasized that the current focus is on executing these plans and bringing the ERA to market efficiently.
