Eve Air Mobility has formed a strategic partnership with Sydney-based Alt Air to advance electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) operations across New South Wales and Queensland in Australia. This collaboration aims to create a comprehensive urban air mobility (UAM) network, leveraging existing airports and new vertiport locations, in preparation for the 2032 Brisbane Summer Games.
Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility, emphasized that this initiative is foundational for establishing a world-class eVTOL ecosystem in Australia. The project envisions sustainable, quiet, and efficient air mobility solutions to benefit residents, businesses, and visitors, aligning with upcoming infrastructure developments like Western Sydney International Airport and the Brisbane Games.
Development of Vertiport Infrastructure and Route Planning
Alt Air will utilize existing aviation infrastructure, including bases on Sydney Harbour and at Palm Beach, and explore new vertiport sites with Skyports. These facilities are essential for enabling seamless passenger flow and high-tempo aircraft operations, forming the backbone of the emerging eVTOL network. The collaborative effort includes route planning, airspace integration, and customer experience design, with strategic milestones aligned to the Brisbane 2032 event.
“Our work with Eve Air Mobility and Skyports underscores our shared commitment to building meaningful aviation innovation in Australia. Together, we are designing an eVTOL network that will significantly improve connectivity and set a benchmark for advanced air mobility worldwide,” said Aaron Shaw, managing director at Alt Air.
Planned routes will connect major centers such as Sydney and South East Queensland, with initial corridors like Western Sydney International to downtown Sydney. The network aims to demonstrate Australia’s leadership in next-generation transportation, with the Brisbane Games serving as a catalyst for deployment and public acceptance.
Skyports’ head Yun-Yuan Tay expressed enthusiasm for applying vertiport expertise to Australia, noting that the region's strategic markets and upcoming international events make it ideal for AAM launch, thus supporting a legacy of innovative mobility solutions beyond the Games.
Overall, the collaboration underscores Australia’s potential as a leader in advanced air mobility, with initiatives set to enhance connectivity among major venues, airports, and urban centers, showcasing the nation's aviation innovation to the world.
