The delivery of the first MC-55 Peregrine multi-intelligence platform to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is imminent, L3Harris tells Aviation Week. The U.S. FAA approved the supplemental type certificate (STC) on December 22 for the heavily modified Gulfstream G550, enabling the addition of advanced intelligence capabilities. The aircraft, adapted specifically for the RAAF, signifies a key milestone in Australia's military modernization.

L3Harris emphasized that the STC approval allows the deployment of this sophisticated platform, designed to enhance the Australian military's intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. Equipped with cutting-edge sensors and communication systems, the MC-55 provides strategic advantages in regional security operations.

This development highlights the increasing cooperation between U.S. and Australian defense forces, particularly in joint intelligence and airborne surveillance efforts. As the RAAF prepares to operationalize these systems, the MC-55 is expected to significantly boost Australia’s strategic reach across the Asia-Pacific region.

With the FAA certification, the modified Gulfstream G550 now features an array of multi-sensor suites for comprehensive data collection. Delivery is anticipated soon, marking an important step forward in regional defense collaborations.
