Colombia’s airline Avianca has resumed its daily flights between Bogota and Caracas, following a thorough review of operational conditions and aviation safety in coordination with Colombian and Venezuelan authorities. The airline, one of Latin America’s oldest, resumed the route after an assessment described as a comprehensive evaluation of safety standards.
The service will operate using an Airbus A320 aircraft, with flight AV142 departing from Bogota at 07:40 am and flight AV143 returning from Caracas at 12:10 pm local time. Avianca’s president, Gabriel Oliva, expressed pride in reinstating the route after a 60-year history of connecting the two countries, emphasizing the route's importance for passengers and the airline’s network.
Despite previous halts due to security concerns, especially after warnings from the US Federal Aviation Administration about risks in Venezuelan airspace, the airline has confirmed the restart of this daily service. Oliva highlighted that the resumption offers opportunities for millions of passengers to travel between Colombia and Venezuela, as well as to other destinations covered by Avianca in various countries.
The airline's decision follows improvements in the air situation and aims to strengthen commercial and connectivity ties in the region, supporting economic and people-to-people exchanges between Colombia and Venezuela.
