Aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has officially delivered its first Airbus A220-300 to the Italian airline ITA Airways, marking a significant milestone in its 2022 aircraft order. The delivery involved one of five A220-300s scheduled for delivery to ITA Airways in the coming months, all part of a broader fleet expansion plan by the airline.
According to official statements, ITA Airways aims to transition to a fleet composed predominantly of new-generation aircraft, targeting 90% by 2027 to establish itself as Europe's youngest airline. The delivered aircraft is the first from Mirabel, Quebec, and signifies ACG’s first A220 transfer from its order with Airbus.
Tom Baker, CEO and President of ACG, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the airline’s sustainability goals through the deployment of A220 technology. ITA Airways' fleet now features various Airbus models, including the A350-900, A320neo, A330-900neo, and others, reflecting a strategic shift toward modern, efficient aircraft.
The leasing company's client portfolio also includes major airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, and Etihad Airways. ACG maintains its position as a leading global lessor, with over 500 aircraft managed across 85 carriers, according to KPMG’s Aviation Leaders Report 2025.
