Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has delivered its first Airbus A220-300 aircraft to ITA Airways, initiating a new leasing relationship between the U.S.-based lessor and the Italian airline. The aircraft, which originated from the A220 final assembly line in Mirabel, Quebec, is the first of five A220-300s to be leased to ITA Airways under existing agreements. This delivery also represents the first A220 from ACG’s order for 20 aircraft signed in 2022.
Tom Baker, ACG's CEO, expressed enthusiasm for the deal, noting that the A220-300 will join ITA Airways' fleet to support the airline’s renewal efforts and phase-out of older aircraft models. The airline currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of 88 aircraft, including 18 A220s. The new aircraft is expected to bolster ITA's short- and medium-haul operations, aligned with its modernization strategy.
The Airbus A220-300 is a key component of the airline’s strategy to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency on regional routes.
The delivery signifies the start of a broader partnership, aimed at supporting the airline’s growth plans and fleet modernization program.
