The Aviation and Aerospace Industry Singapore (AAIS) concluded its 2025 calendar with a comprehensive seminar focused on the evolving landscape of aviation cybersecurity. Held on 12 December 2025 at CrowdStrike's premises, the event gathered over 50 industry professionals from aerospace, defence, UAS, and supporting sectors to discuss pressing cybersecurity challenges and collaborative solutions.

The session commenced with remarks from AAIS Chief Executive Chew Hwee Yong, emphasizing the increasing importance of cybersecurity as aviation systems become more digitalized. He called for stronger industry-wide cooperation to meet the rapidly changing regulatory environment.

Expert presentations covered topics such as emerging cyber threats, leveraging national policies for security, and practical compliance strategies. Dave Gurbani of CyberSafe shared insights into recent cyber threat vectors and regulatory developments, while Veronica Tan from Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency explained how organizations can utilize government frameworks to bolster cybersecurity resiliency. Dr George Lincoln from CrowdStrike highlighted the importance of integrating technological solutions with skilled personnel, governance, and standards like ISO 27001.

Panel Discussion on Certification and Standards

A key portion of the seminar was a panel discussion moderated by Baljit Singh from Guardian, addressing the complexity caused by overlapping international standards. The experts advocated for a unified, organization-wide approach to cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of aligning controls with enterprise goals and common standards such as ISO 27001 to reduce duplication and inefficiency. Challenges such as skill shortages, costs, and internal resistance were examined, with leaders stressing the need for committed leadership and continuous training.

The event concluded with practical recommendations for organizations to establish baseline assessments, integrate cybersecurity initiatives with existing management systems, and stay updated on regulatory changes. AAIS expressed its gratitude to all speakers, participants, and partners for making the event a successful discussion on the future of aviation security amid increasing digitalization.
