The Kingdom of Bahrain has announced the launch of its National Aviation Strategy for the years 2026 to 2027, aimed at fostering growth and modernization within the civil aviation sector. The strategy, unveiled by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, emphasizes policy initiatives designed to enhance Bahrain’s aviation infrastructure and services.

Speaking on 15 February 2026, Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa explained that the plan aligns with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and seeks to develop an integrated aviation ecosystem. Key objectives include increasing connectivity from 66 to 100 destinations by 2030, supporting economic growth and employment.

The strategy involves cooperation among government agencies and private sector stakeholders to improve regulation, operational efficiency, and infrastructure. Bahrain International Airport is prioritized as a central hub for both commercial and private aviation, along with plans for maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.

Implementation focuses on safety, compliance, infrastructure investment, sustainability, and workforce development. This comprehensive approach aims to position Bahrain as a competitive and innovative player in the regional and international civil aviation industry.
