Vietnam-based Bamboo Airways has added a new Airbus A320 aircraft, registration ER-0005, to its fleet, arriving at Noi Bai International Airport on December 13, 2025. This milestone comes as the airline seeks to increase its capacity ahead of the upcoming Tet holiday, which is a peak travel period in Vietnam.

The airline's CEO, Truong Phuong Thanh, indicated that the new aircraft is part of a strategic plan to rebuild and expand the fleet, targeting a total of 30 aircraft by 2030. This expansion aims to facilitate network growth, enhance route frequencies, and improve overall operational efficiency.

Short-term Capacity Boost

For the immediate future, Bamboo Airways plans a capacity increase of 16% during the Tet 2026 period. The airline will focus on popular domestic routes, increasing frequencies on routes such as Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh, Thanh Hoa, and Haiphong, with some routes offering two flights per day. The airline is also ramping up recruitment and training efforts to support this increased activity.

This fleet expansion aligns with the airline's broader vision to restore and extend its network, both domestically and internationally, thereby preparing for an anticipated rise in travel demand around the Lunar New Year festival.
