Bangkok Airways is setting a new strategic direction for 2026, emphasizing environmental sustainability and regional connectivity. The airline’s president, Puttipong Prasarttong-osoth, highlighted plans to integrate more environmentally responsible practices, including increasing the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and upcycling initiatives. The airline has already begun blending one percent SAF into its international routes since 2025 and aims to further expand its usage in alignment with global industry standards.
The carrier is also developing Phuket as its secondary international hub to improve connectivity for European and Middle Eastern passengers arriving via Phuket, aiming to create a more efficient gateway with direct domestic routes such as Phuket to Trat. This move reflects a shift from traditional service metrics, focusing instead on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
Independent Network and Partnerships
Operating independently, Bangkok Airways maintains partnerships with 30 codeshare carriers and 70 interline partners, allowing it to support a wide network without formal airline alliances. The airline's strategy includes leveraging its independent status to collaborate with multiple alliances simultaneously, providing seamless connectivity for travelers.
Furthermore, the airline is engaging in innovative upcycling projects, transforming aircraft seatbelts and seat covers into fashion accessories and collaborating with local communities to repurpose oyster shells into construction materials like coasters and paving blocks. These initiatives underscore Bangkok Airways’ commitment to sustainability and community engagement, positioning itself as a responsible regional airline committed to future growth.
