BOC Aviation has made its first purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel certificates (SAFc) from the Singapore Airlines Group. Both companies are members of the Green Fuel Forward initiative, launched by the World Economic Forum to promote demand for sustainable aviation fuel in the Asia-Pacific region.
The SAFc certificates reflect the reduction in carbon emissions associated with sustainable aviation fuel, allowing businesses to claim credible carbon savings without needing to operate flights with SAF themselves. These certificates are registered on the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials Book and Claim Registry, ensuring transparency and traceability.
Thomas Chandler, Chief Operating Officer of BOC Aviation, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability: “Supporting the scale-up of SAF in Singapore and using SAFc helps address our business travel emissions while contributing to a lower-carbon future. This initiative aligns with Singapore’s national climate strategies, including the Singapore Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint.”
This move signifies BOC Aviation’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact through innovative solutions and collaboration with industry partners committed to sustainable growth in aviation.
