Boeing has announced the launch of its Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer (VAPT) at the European Aviation Training Summit. The platform, powered by Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Flight Simulator, is designed to provide pilots and flight training teams with immersive, accessible, and customizable tools to improve pilot learning and preparedness.
The Procedures Trainer, the first application within the Virtual Airplane suite, offers high-fidelity 3D simulations that enable pilots to practice flight deck procedures on lightweight devices, enhancing standardization and reducing familiarization times. Additionally, the platform features an intuitive authoring tool that allows training operators to manage and deploy content rapidly, enabling airlines to update procedures instantly.
Chris Raymond, CEO of Boeing Global Services, emphasized that this innovation reflects Boeing’s commitment to digital transformation in aviation training, aiming to improve safety and operational readiness. Boeing Global Services Vice President Chris Broom highlighted the platform’s ability to tailor lessons to organizational needs. Microsoft’s Dayan Rodriguez added that this partnership accelerates aviation learning and safety.
The VAPT currently supports Boeing 737 MAX models on computers and iPad devices, with plans to include additional Boeing aircraft in the future, thus offering a flexible and scalable training solution for the industry.
