New Book Chronicles the Challenges of Baltia Air Lines' Ambitious Revival
A new nonfiction book titled "WINGS OF THE IMPOSSIBLE" by Barry Clare details the tumultuous journey of Baltia Air Lines, the American startup airline founded by Clare and Igor Dmitrowsky. The narrative covers their extensive efforts spanning over a decade to launch a fully certified international airline in the United States, operating without external financial backing from Wall Street or political connections.
The book provides an inside look into the numerous obstacles faced by the founders, including federal certification hurdles, battles with regulatory agencies such as the FAA, and financial struggles, including an incident involving an abandoned Boeing 747 in the Arizona desert. It highlights the perseverance required to bring a mothballed aircraft back to service and to gain government route authorization amid a complex regulatory environment.
Clare emphasizes the broader significance of their story, framing it as a testament to resilience, innovation, and the pursuit of the American Dream. The narrative includes early praise from industry observers who describe it as a compelling and cinematic account of perseverance in the face of adversity, akin to Hollywood stories of daring enterprise.
Published in multiple formats, the book is currently available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook, with discussions about a film adaptation underway. It aims to inspire entrepreneurs and aviation enthusiasts alike by showcasing the extraordinary efforts behind Baltia’s pursuit of transatlantic service between New York and Eastern Europe, symbolizing hope for similar future ventures.
