Bentonville-based Buffalo River Aviation Services has achieved a significant milestone in its development by obtaining the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 135 air carrier certificate. This certification allows the company to operate its own fleet of private charter aircraft independently, marking it as the largest private charter operator in Arkansas by aircraft count.
The company plans to expand its fleet to seven aircraft by the end of the year, including King Air turboprops, Citation jets, and a Cessna Citation Sovereign. The move follows a strategic period of partnerships with Central Flying Service and JetTech Charters, which allowed Buffalo River to provide charter services before securing its own FAA operating authority.
"Earning our own FAA operating certificate is a significant milestone," said CEO Chris Townsley. "It gives us greater flexibility to invest in our fleet, our staff, and the high level of service our clients expect." The company’s workforce includes over 11 pilots and four administrative staff, with plans to add more personnel. It has also expanded its hangar facilities at Bentonville Municipal Airport and increased operational capabilities in North Little Rock, Oklahoma City, and Neosho.
Founded in 2021, Buffalo River Aviation offers a variety of services including private aircraft charter and management. The firm services destinations across the United States including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle. In addition to its commercial activities, Buffalo River is active in charitable missions, providing aircraft and pilot support to organizations such as Make-A-Wish and the Special Olympics Airlift.
