At COP30 in Brazil, the business aviation industry highlighted its commitment to reducing aviation emissions through the promotion and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Industry representatives emphasized that SAF offers an effective solution for the sector to contribute to global climate goals. The industry has made significant strides, with over 100 fixed-base operators (FBOs) worldwide now offering direct uplift of SAF, alongside the development of book-and-claim systems that help expand SAF availability and impact globally.
The efforts are supported by the Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, a collaborative partnership of over 20 major companies and trade associations, including the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). This coalition aims to scale up SAF use across the sector and encourages aircraft operators to proactively identify SAF options with their fuel providers, especially for flights heading to Belém, Brazil, during COP30, and beyond.
These initiatives reflect a broader industry focus on sustainability and climate action, with industry leaders advocating for increased SAF adoption as a key strategy to reduce aviation's carbon footprint. The advancements in physical SAF uplift and book-and-claim systems are expected to drive further investments in future SAF production, contributing to a greener future for business aviation.
