Neste Corporation has announced a new partnership with Cathay Group to supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) across three key regions: Europe, the United States, and Asia-Pacific. This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of greener fuels within Cathay's extensive airline network, supporting the airline’s sustainability and decarbonization objectives.

The collaboration involves delivering blended SAF at major international airports, including Amsterdam Schiphol, Los Angeles International, and Singapore Changi. Neste's SAF, made from renewable waste and residue raw materials, can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle when used in its neat form, and can be blended with conventional jet fuel up to 50% for use in existing aircraft engines and fueling infrastructure.

Significance and Capacity

This strategic partnership underscores Neste's position as a leading producer of renewable aviation fuels, with current global production capacity of 1.5 million tons annually, planned to grow to 2.2 million tons by 2027. Mario Mifsud, Vice President of Renewable Fuels Sales & Trading EMEA & APAC at Neste, remarked that the company's supply capabilities are crucial for enabling airlines like Cathay to meet their emission reduction targets.

The move aligns with broader industry trends toward sustainability, as aviation seeks to lower its carbon footprint. Cathay Pacific's commitment to decarbonizing its operations reflects its leadership in environmental responsibility within the airline sector.

Further information and media contacts are available through Neste's corporate communication channels. The partnership illustrates the growing role of renewable fuels in transforming the future of aviation, making sustainable air travel more feasible and accessible.
