Cathay Pacific continues to modernize its fleet by introducing the Aria Studio, a new regional business class seat designed to enhance passenger comfort and unify cabin standards across its regional-configured aircraft. The new seats, which replace aging recliners on Airbus A330s and Boeing 777-300s, feature a reverse herringbone layout with direct-aisle access and modern amenities, including USB-C ports, wireless charging, and a 4K touchscreen display. This initiative aligns with the airline’s fleet renewal strategy, as it plans to replace older aircraft with newer, more efficient A330-900s.
The airline’s current regional fleet includes over 20 A330-300s and 17 Boeing 777-300s, many of which are over 18 years old. These aircraft will either receive the new seating or be phased out as Cathay Pacific adopts the A330-900. The airline has also ordered 30 new A330-900 aircraft, expected to be delivered from 2028, which will feature the Aria Studio to provide a consistent customer experience nationwide.
Fleet Modernization Goals
While the 777-300ER fleet will retain their existing cabins, some will be retrofitted with the long-haul Aria Suite, which features more premium features and is installed aboard long-haul aircraft. The airline’s fleet strategy involves gradually standardizing regional aircraft layouts while upgrading cabins to meet evolving passenger expectations. The introduction of the Aria Studio represents a significant step toward this goal, leveraging partnerships with Collins Aerospace and JPA Design to deliver a modern, efficient, and comfortable regional product.
