Joerg Eberhart, CEO of ITA Airways, has outlined the airline's strategic focus since taking command in January 2025. With a background at Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti, Eberhart has emphasized modernization and growth, as ITA aims to strengthen its position within Europe and globally. Launched in 2021 after the demise of Alitalia, ITA operates out of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate and has recently attracted a 41% ownership stake from Lufthansa.

The airline is actively pursuing fleet renewal and expanding its route network to accommodate increasing passenger demand. Eberhart highlighted initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience, as well as the pursuit of new markets and aircraft types. The company is also exploring strategic partnerships to bolster its market presence and long-term sustainability.

As the aviation industry faces geopolitical and economic headwinds, Eberhart stressed the importance of agility and innovation. ITA’s current developments, including fleet investments and network expansion, are aimed at ensuring its competitiveness in a challenging environment. Leadership at ITA remains committed to adapting to evolving industry dynamics and securing future growth opportunities, supported by Lufthansa’s backing and strategic objectives.
