Chalair Aviation has been awarded a three-year public service obligation (PSO) contract by the government of Andorra. Starting January 1, 2027, the airline will operate international routes from La Seu D’Urgell, connecting the region with Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, and Paris, utilizing a permanently based ATR42-500 aircraft. This marks the first time an aircraft will be based at this Pyrenean airport, strengthening regional connectivity.
In addition to the initial routes, Chalair plans to introduce services to Nice, Lyon St. Exupéry, and Nantes throughout 2027, potentially employing an ATR72-500 during periods of high demand. The government’s financial commitment is capped at EUR5 million annually, with a total of EUR15 million allocated for the 2027-2030 period, replacing services previously operated by Air Nostrum, which had served the area since 2022.
This strategic move underscores Andorra’s efforts to enhance regional transportation options and attract tourism and business activity to the region. The contract’s approval signals Chalair's increased regional operational footprint and acknowledges the importance of maintaining robust air links for Pyrenean communities.
