Shuangliu District Advances in Urban and Economic Development
The Shuangliu District of Chengdu has been recognized as one of China's happiest districts in 2025, reflecting its successful integration of economic growth and residents' well-being. Central to this achievement is Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, which handled nearly 25 million passengers in the first three quarters of the year, marking an increase of 2.4% compared to the previous year.
The district has transitioned from relying solely on its airport as a transport hub to developing a comprehensive industrial cluster involving aviation R&D, manufacturing, maintenance, and operational services. This strategic shift has helped create an innovative economy that benefits local residents through improved trade, such as faster customs clearance for imported goods like European chilled salmon.
Beyond economic transformation, Shuangliu is emphasizing quality of life through the development of green spaces and community facilities. With over 210 kilometers of greenways and 22 parks, the district boasts nearly 50% green coverage and ample parkland per capita, creating a vibrant urban environment for its citizens.
These efforts highlight a harmonious balance between technological progress and environmental sustainability, making Shuangliu a model for future urban development. The district exemplifies how strategic infrastructure investment and green initiatives can coexist with rapid economic growth, fostering a happier, healthier community.
