The airline China Airlines has announced a major fleet renewal plan, approved by its Board of Directors. The carrier intends to enhance its passenger and cargo services by acquiring 18 new wide-body aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. The order includes five Airbus A350-1000s, five Boeing 777-9s, four Boeing 777-8Fs, and two Boeing 777Fs, with a combined estimated value exceeding 7.852 billion dollars. This move reflects the airline's strategy to modernize its fleet and expand capacity to meet growth demands.

In addition to the aircraft purchase, China Airlines has committed to acquiring spare engines from Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace, including a Trent XWB-97 and three GE9X engines, respectively. The airline also announced the sale of four Boeing 747-400Fs, signaling its phased withdrawal from its all-cargo operations that previously relied heavily on this model. The decision aligns with industry trends focusing on more fuel-efficient, longer-range aircraft models, and supports the airline’s future operational plans.

This significant purchase signifies a step towards fleet modernization, positioning China Airlines to better serve its routes with the latest technology while reducing operational costs. The program also indicates the airline's confidence in the aircraft manufacturers' latest designs and technological innovations, ensuring competitiveness in the global aviation market.
