China is increasingly integrating artificial intelligence and robotics into its aviation sector to boost operational efficiency and enhance passenger services. Recent exhibitions at the China Air Transport Association conference in Beijing highlighted innovative uses of technology, such as robotic arms that assemble airline meals and quadruped robots being tested for airport delivery tasks.

At China Eastern Airlines' Pudong catering center, four robotic arms coordinate to prepare meals, producing over 600,000 dishes in just two months. The automation system is capable of delivering a meal every four seconds, demonstrating significant labor savings and faster throughput.

Industry Focus on Technological Advancements

The conference emphasized the importance of AI in civil aviation, with discussions on how such technologies can further improve safety, efficiency, and passenger experience. The deployment of robots for routine tasks, such as meal assembly and potentially cargo delivery, illustrates the sector's shift towards automation.

"The integration of AI and robotics in aviation will reshape how the industry operates and serves customers," said a spokesperson at the conference.

As Chinese airlines and airports adopt these new technologies, they are expected to lead the way in aviation automation, setting standards for global industry practices and future innovations.
