Cineon is set to introduce the UK’s first Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)-approved virtual reality pilot training tool at the European Airline Training Symposium (EATS) in Cascais, Portugal, from November 4–6, 2025. This development marks a significant milestone in recognizing immersive technologies within aviation training regulations.
Developed in partnership with Jet2, the innovative tool employs eye tracking and artificial intelligence to evaluate pilot performance during walkarounds. Its approval by the CAA signifies growing industry confidence in extended reality (XR) as a credible method for competency-based training and assessment (CBTA/EBT), positioning Cineon at the forefront of flight crew instruction innovation.
During the event, Cineon will also showcase how AI is transforming pilot training by personalizing learning experiences, optimizing data management, and enhancing safety. Industry leaders and aviation professionals will explore these advancements through demonstrations and workshops, emphasizing the integration of AI and XR technologies for future aviation challenges.
The initiative signifies progress toward regulatory acceptance of immersive simulation, promising to improve training efficiency and safety standards across airlines. Attendees and participants at EATS 2025 will have the opportunity to engage with these cutting-edge solutions, shaping the future of pilot training worldwide.
