Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has announced the establishment of its aviation consultancy division, CIAL ACES, during its 32nd annual general meeting. The new division seeks to extend the airport's technical expertise to other airports and aviation sector stakeholders across India. Its initial project will involve implementing a passenger verification system at Durgapur Airport in West Bengal, marking the beginning of a series of technological interventions.
The company aspires to develop the airport as a multimodal logistics hub and has plans to establish a Global Convention Centre in partnership with the airport authorities. Its consultancy services will encompass airport planning, runway improvements, cargo operations, ground handling, and commercial activities, allowing CIAL to leverage its extensive operational knowledge.
Strategic Growth and Operational Success
At the event, Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan underscored the importance of deploying CIAL’s capabilities beyond its own infrastructure. Last fiscal year, CIAL managed over 73,000 aircraft movements and served around 11.4 million passengers, generating a revenue of Rs. 12.2 billion.
In addition to the consultancy launch, CIAL introduced its Bridge Mounted Equipment service, providing electricity free of charge to parked aircraft—a pioneering move in India. Executives including CIAL Director Roji M John and Managing Director S Suhas attended the event, reaffirming the company's commitment to expanding their aviation services and consultancy footprint nationwide.
