Croatia Airlines has reported increased operational costs and financial challenges due to delays in the delivery of its Airbus A220 fleet. The airline noted that the delay, which exceeds 62 months, has negatively impacted its summer season and led to higher leasing and maintenance expenses. The carrier initially planned to start operating the A220-100 in summer 2025 but has so far received only seven aircraft, with more expected in 2026.
The airline, based at Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport, posted an operational loss of EUR 21.5 million for the period from January to September. Despite this, its EBITDA improved by 9% year-on-year to EUR 12.4 million. The current fleet includes one A220-100, six A220-300s, and other aircraft, with ongoing plans for fleet expansion and renewal.
According to industry data, Croatia Airlines operates a total of 21 aircraft serving 32 destinations with 52 routes and 62 daily flights. The company emphasized its commitment to a long-term sustainable business model, despite the delays and financial strain caused by supply chain issues and late aircraft deliveries.
