Delta Air Lines has announced plans to increase its Airbus A350 flights between Los Angeles and Melbourne to a daily service by the end of 2026. Currently operating three times a week, the airline intends to incrementally boost its schedule, reaching five flights per week by October 2026, and then achieving daily flights by December 2026. This expansion reflects the airline's strategy to meet the growing demand for travel between the United States and Australia.

The airline’s schedule adjustments will include increasing flights from October 13, 2026, to four weekly flights, and then to five weekly from October 27, 2026. During the Northern Winter season of 2026/27, the flights will settle at five times weekly, though this still represents an increase over the current schedule, supporting an improved total capacity to Melbourne.

Operational and Fleet Details

Delta’s long-haul operations to Australia are powered by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which offer a range of over 9,700 nautical miles and feature a modern, efficient cabin designed for passenger comfort. The airline’s long-range fleet enhancements include the potential introduction of the A350-1000 model to evolve its international product further. Alongside Melbourne, Delta maintains daily flights to Sydney and seasonal flights to Brisbane, strengthening its presence in the transpacific market.

"The increase to daily flights to Melbourne will help Delta better serve customer demand and expand their connectivity options," said airline spokesperson.

Delta emphasizes its focus on passenger experience, offering four cabin classes, including its premium One Suites, with lie-flat beds and chef-curated meals. The airline’s overall strategy aims to attract leisure and business travelers while leveraging its network for onward connectivity to other Australian destinations and beyond.
