Bhutan's national airline, Drukair, has added a Pilatus PC-24 jet to its fleet, marking the country's first executive aircraft of this model. The jet, registered as A5-JUW, was transported from Pilatus Aircraft's facilities in Buochs and arrived in Paro after a series of technical stops. The aircraft is configured for up to eight passengers and is intended to enhance premium services and medical evacuation capabilities.
This acquisition reflects Drukair's strategic fleet expansion, which includes Airbus A319s, an A320-200N, and the ATR42-600, as well as helicopter operations. The airline is planning to convert an older A319 into a VIP-configured aircraft, based out of Gelephu, supporting Bhutan’s growing demand for high-end travel and regional connectivity.
Further investments include an order for three Airbus A320-200Ns and two A321-200NY(XLR)s, scheduled for delivery over the next several years. These new aircraft are aimed at increasing route capacity and extending West to East in Bhutan.
Karnavati Aviation, the operator of this new jet, has a fleet of five PC-24s, along with other private jets, emphasizing its role in the business aviation sector. The company also recently added a B737-8(BBJ) aircraft, consolidating its position in the regional and global private jet market.
The addition of the Pilatus PC-24 demonstrates Drukair’s commitment to modernization, premium service, and strategic fleet development, ensuring that Bhutan’s connectivity and travel options continue to improve in the coming years.
