October, December Strikes Expected to Cause Delays

September 27, 2026 — easyJet passengers traveling to and from the Netherlands face potential disruptions this autumn as cabin crew in Portugal and pilots in France have announced strike actions. The planned walkouts in October and December 2026 are anticipated to lead to flight delays and cancellations at Dutch airports, including Amsterdam Schiphol and Eindhoven Airport.

Portuguese Cabin Crew Initiate October and December Strikes

easyJet cabin crew employees in Portugal, represented by the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC), have scheduled two periods of industrial action. The first strike is set to occur from October 2 to 6, with a second wave planned for December 19 to 23. While the primary impact is expected at airports in Lisbon, Porto, and Faro, Dutch airports are also projected to experience knock-on effects.

The SNPVAC estimates that approximately 500 flights could be grounded during the October strike. However, Portuguese law mandates that organizations must maintain a minimum level of service during such industrial actions.

French Pilots Plan October Action Over Work Schedules

In addition to the Portuguese cabin crew strikes, easyJet pilots in France, represented by the SNPL union, have scheduled a strike for October 1 and 2. This action, although previously postponed to allow for negotiations, is expected to affect flights between Dutch airports and several French destinations, including Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Lyon, Nice, Nantes, and Bordeaux.

The core of the dispute in France centers on what the union describes as "chronic instability" in work schedules. The SNPL is demanding roster guarantees, such as five days of unchangeable schedules per month, mirroring agreements secured by French cabin crew in August.

Passenger Advisory and Company Response

easyJet has stated it will directly contact affected passengers via email, text message, or its mobile application. Travelers are strongly advised to regularly monitor their flight status. Depending on the extent of the disruption, passengers whose flights are canceled or severely delayed may be entitled to a full refund, free rebooking, or statutory compensation, according to the airline.

The progression of negotiations between easyJet and its unions will determine whether the second wave of Portuguese strikes in December proceeds. easyJet currently employs approximately 4,000 pilots and 8,000 cabin crew across Europe.
