easyJet has announced the resumption of its seasonal flights between Berlin and Ljubljana, scheduled to begin on April 7, 2027. The route will operate twice weekly using Airbus A320 aircraft, with no direct competition on this service. This revival marks the airline's return to the route after a seven-year break, with tickets now available online.
Originally, easyJet operated flights between the two capitals from August 2018, with services disrupted in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to route discontinuation. The airline's renewed focus on Ljubljana includes additional routes from Manchester, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, and London Luton, bringing its total Ljubljana destination count to five by summer 2027.
Strategic Developments and Local Industry
Alongside route expansion, easyJet is in the process of acquiring Adria Tehnika, a Ljubljana-based aircraft maintenance provider, from Czech investment firm Hartenberg Holding. While the approval was secured in February 2026, the deal has faced delays due to internal disputes involving the seller. This move signals easyJet's intent to bring more heavy maintenance work in-house, potentially supporting its increased operations in Ljubljana.
"The new Berlin service is part of easyJet's broader expansion strategy in Ljubljana, contributing to the development of Slovenia's air connectivity," said an industry analyst.
The announcement coincides with ongoing Slovenian government efforts to improve international air routes. Although four bids were received in the recent tender round, details of the bidders and proposed routes remain confidential, with no official results disclosed at this time.
