Global aircraft asset management firm EirTrade Aviation has completed the disassembly of two recent-model A320neo aircraft at its facility near Ireland West Airport Knock. The company acquired the airframes, which are six years old, along with PW1127G turbofan engines, which will be sold to address the global shortage of PW1100-series spares.

According to Lee Carey, chief investment officer at EirTrade Aviation, the company strategically acquires and disassembles aircraft to support market demand. He noted that EirTrade was the first to disassemble retired B787 aircraft, and it is now shifting focus to the A320neo platform, which currently has over 4,000 aircraft in service and 7,100 on order worldwide.

Operational Details and Market Support

The aircraft are now stored at the company’s maintenance facility, with disassembly scheduled to begin after the engines and auxiliary power units (APUs) are removed. The materials recovered from the teardown are expected to be released commercially before the end of the year, bolstering supply for the A320neo fleet.

"We are attuned to market demand and align our acquisitions accordingly to support the needs of our customers," said Carey. "Supporting the largest commercial aircraft fleet worldwide is part of our commitment to the industry."

In collaboration with Seagull Aviation, which provided technical support during the delivery process, EirTrade aims to help meet the global demand for spare parts, especially engines, amid ongoing shortages.

Lee Carey will also participate in the upcoming MENA region’s Predictive Aircraft Maintenance Conference, highlighting the company's role in supporting the aircraft lifecycle through innovative disassembly and parts resale processes.
