Eirtrade Aviation has significantly expanded its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities at Ireland West Airport Knock. The Irish company has relocated its engine disassembly operations to the site, which already hosts airframe disassembly and Part 145 line maintenance services. This move allows Eirtrade to service CFM International engines, including the CFM56 series, along with offering activities like engine storage, shrink wrapping, and component disassembly.

Additionally, Eirtrade announced plans to dismantle four Airbus A330 aircraft at the facility. The company expects to complete the dismantling of the first two in December, following which the engines will be remarketed or leased to generate revenue from the remaining green time. Assets and components removed from the aircraft will be sold or exchanged to support Eirtrade’s A330 aftermarket operations.

Furthermore, the company has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 145 certification for line maintenance on A330 aircraft powered by GE Aerospace CF6, Pratt & Whitney PW4000, and Rolls-Royce Trent engines, including Trent 7000 variants. According to Lee Carey, Chief Investment Officer, these developments will improve operational efficiency and strengthen Eirtrade’s position in aircraft asset management and MRO services. Aviation industry analyst James Pozzi highlighted that these milestones contribute to Ireland’s growing role as a hub for aircraft maintenance and asset management activities, supporting both regional and international markets.
