Recent investments include modernising El Salvador International Airport with a USD 195 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank, aiming to expand passenger terminals, extend aprons, and improve support infrastructure. Additionally, a new Pacific International Airport is under construction in La Unión, marking the country's first major airport outside the capital region and offering new routes to eastern coastal areas.
These initiatives are part of the El Salvador Vuela programme, financed by CAF, which seeks to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and boost resilience. These developments are expected to benefit travelers by increasing efficiency, opening new travel itineraries, and making destinations accessible across the country, from beaches to cultural sites.
