Embraer has announced a GPS system instability impacting its E2 family aircraft, including E190-E2 and E195-E2, as of September 23, 2026. The company is collaborating with relevant authorities and carriers to monitor and address the situation, which has led to operational grounding and adjustments for airlines like Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Despite the disruptions, Embraer confirmed that there is no impact on flight safety, emphasizing that the aircraft are equipped with navigation systems allowing continued operation during GPS issues.
Embraer Technical Services issued a bulletin advising carriers on a temporary fix involving system resets, though a permanent resolution has not yet been implemented. The incident has prompted grounding of approximately one-third of Azul's fleet and flight cancellations for carriers in Canada and Europe. As investigations proceed, Embraer and equipment supplier Honeywell Aerospace are actively assessing the root cause of the GPS instability.
