Emirates, operating with the airline code EK and based at Dubai International, has announced a partnership with aerospace manufacturer Safran to establish an aircraft seat manufacturing and assembly facility in Dubai. The new site is expected to initially produce economy and business class seats for cabin retrofits, with plans to expand into line-fit projects in the future. The companies anticipate the facility to begin operations by the fourth quarter of 2027. Once operational, it will serve not only Emirates but also other airline customers.
The partnership highlights Emirates’ strategy to enhance its aircraft cabin offerings through in-house manufacturing capabilities. This move aims to streamline the supply chain and reduce dependency on third-party suppliers, ensuring better customization and quality control. The new facility demonstrates Emirates’ commitment to supporting its existing fleet of 438 aircraft, which serve destinations across 153 routes.
According to Emirates, the manufacturing site will contribute to the airline’s broader efforts to modernize its fleet and improve passenger experience. The company’s recent initiatives include expanding its services and optimizing operational efficiency.
