Dubai is set to strengthen its aerospace industry with a new independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility supported by a bilateral loan from Emirates NBD. Located at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub near Al Maktoum International Airport, the facility spans nearly 26,000 square meters, including an 18,000-square-meter climate-controlled hangar capable of accommodating multiple aircraft at once.

This strategic development aims to expand Dubai’s aircraft maintenance capacity, supporting the growth of regional and international airlines. The project also includes workshops, warehouses, and offices designed to enhance operational efficiency. Emirates NBD’s financing highlights its commitment to fostering innovative infrastructure projects that contribute to the UAE’s industrial and economic development.

Supporting Dubai’s Aviation Ambitions

The new MRO facility is expected to boost local employment and skill development, while also helping airlines reduce turnaround times. Dubai’s long-term aviation vision emphasizes attracting more aerospace companies and establishing Dubai South as a regional aerospace hub. TIM Aerospace, the independent MRO provider behind the project, aims to support diverse aircraft types, including Boeing and Airbus models, ensuring high standards of safety and quality.

"Dubai's aviation sector continues to grow at pace, driving demand for world-class maintenance infrastructure that supports airline operations across the region," said Ahmed Al Qassim, Group Head of Wholesale Banking, Emirates NBD. "Supporting TIM Aerospace's landmark facility reflects Emirates NBD's dedication to strategic projects that reinforce Dubai's position as a global aerospace leader."

Once operational, the facility will play a vital role in meeting regional aircraft maintenance needs, fostering innovation, and increasing resilience in Dubai’s aerospace ecosystem. The partnership exemplifies the UAE's broader efforts to diversify and strengthen its industrial sectors and maintain its competitive edge in global aviation.
